So, I had the chance to operate the Caterpillar 432. Controls are smooth and responsive-didn't face much lag. The backhoe's stability when digging impressed me, though switching between functions could have been slightly faster. Cab comfort is decent, but extended hours still cause fatigue. Drove the Cat 432 at a demo event, and it's solid. The new engine feels powerful, and although it's smaller, the fuel efficiency is noticeable. Been working this Caterpillar 432 for a few months now, mostly for utility jobs. The side shift is a real help in the city, it makes life easier cause I don't have to block off extra lanes just to get the job done. Just shift the boom over, no sweat. It's solid when roading too, doesn't bounce around as much as some of the older machines I used to drive. The display is easy - not a lot of time wasted trying to figure stuff out, even if you're not real techy. I like the seat, doesn’t kill my back after a long day. Only thing, I wish there was a bit more feedback on controls sometimes, but maybe that's me being used to a different feel. Anyway, downtime is basically none, parts always in stock, which is rare. Power's decent, comfort's better than most. I’d say it’s reliable for what we do.
